How are event grades chosen?

Grades A–F compare published backgrounds, costumes, shiny opportunities, rare or high-tier encounters, bonuses, rewards, and the featured Pokémon’s raid and PvP relevance. Meta relevance uses PvPoke league rankings and raid attacker rankings; an eligible evolution counts too. A is a top priority; B is worth planning; C is good if convenient; D has limited announced value; F has few announced reasons to play. “Early” means details are still thin, so the grade may change. Grades describe the opportunity if you can participate; they never guarantee a catch or reward.

  • Astronaut Pikachu appears in one-star raids and as a free Timed Research reward. Either encounter may be Shiny; no wild Astronaut Pikachu encounter is announced.
  • The worldwide announcement does not promise a Location Background. That opportunity belongs to the separate ESA museum collaboration.

Research deadline

  • Finish and claim the free Timed Research by October 12 at 11:59 PM local time.

  • Free Timed Research will be available during the event. Complete the tasks to earn an encounter with Astronaut Pikachu and other rewards.
  • Timed Research tasks must be completed and all rewards claimed by Monday, October 12, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. local time .

Shiny releases

  • Shiny Astronaut Pikachu will be available when the costume debuts. If you’re lucky, you might encounter one in raids or from Timed Research!
